The XFL is making a comeback! That’s right! In 2023 we will be rebooted! The XFL is known for faster easier play and outside the box rules like shortened play clock, multiple players with speakers in their helmets, black and red footballs, fewer time-outs, a shortened halftime, no coin toss, and no extra points.  This is the same XFL concept that was launched in 2001 by WWE big wig Vince McMahon that will be continuing to delight fans in the upcoming 2023 season and we can’t wait!

The most memorable thing that the XFL is known for are the players wearing nicknames on the back of their jerseys.

The league is going to return but with a Western New York connection. The league’s new President has been named and it is former Buffalo Bills CEO, Russ Brandon!  Brandon has 21 years in Orchard Park under his belt and rose to the title after exiting the team in 2018.

Dwayne Garcia said upon helping bring the team out of bankruptcy “These exceptional and talented executives encompass a deep skill set that aligns with our commitment to delivering an exceptional football universe experience, as well as our shared passion for bringing the XFL back stronger than before. Our team’s experience across varying professional sports leagues and brands will enable us to deliver an experience for our fans, athletes and partners that represents today’s evolution of ‘best-in-class.’ A tremendous amount of work has already been done with more exciting news to come as we prepare for 2023.”

Brandon is known for being the architect of the Bills 17 year playoff drought and was also the president of the Buffalo Sabers from 2015 to 2018 at which time he resigned from both positions.
